Although it is somewhat
painful to know that Boushrieyeh--my favorite team for many yrs
back (since the reign of M Badr Eddine)--I, nonetheless, am
happy for your victory. CONGRATS!
PS. I used to watch Shweir volleyball--mostly held in 'Ayroun--just
to watch this blondish, curly-haired guy (name still unknown to
me) spike the heck out of the ball, much like Alain Saadeh does
now! He was awesome. I believe I asked about him before, but
could get no reliable answer. He played in late 60's and early
70's.
(Just returned from a VA Beach vacation where it was as hot as
an egg-frying skillet; Southerners call them "Dog Days" where
they are so hot that even dogs will not chase cats!

As I speak, and as an avid sportsman, I
am watching a volleball game on LBC between Bauchrieyeh and the
Lebanese army. There's this very tall (tallest, as they said),
blond player with the same name as the creator of this thread:
Joseph Nohra. I wonder if they're the same person? (Looks a
little like singer, rocker Jerry Lee Lewis of old, with his
curly blond hair).

AJ,
I watched part of that game too but I didn’t know who won at the
end. And that handsome dod you mentioned is our Joseph. Ya Abou
Jihad Abou Al Zooz is way too handsome to be looking like Jerry
Lee Lewis
As for what Nadia said “Second Place is great”. If you asked Mr.
volleyball Istaz Elie god rest his soul he will say Second place
is not good enough. When it come to Volleyball A Nohra should be
second to none. As for me I have to agree with Nadia and
congratulate Joseph but next time I must go alone with the
opinion of Istazna Wa habibna Al istaz Elie.
Same3 Abou Al Zooz no more Second place. Hope to see this August
in Shweir big buddy |

This post is a bit old if you can see it
since 2007 (don't worry I took my revenge quickly from the same
team this year and I won 2-0) I just want to mention Nabil that
this is in beach volleyball -), anyway,As indoor now the semi
finals begans before yesterday it will be played best of three
games, first two games bawshriye won against Army 3-2 and us
Anwar won against Zahra 3-0, but I want to double agree you that
second place for me doesn't exist too -) but still a game and as
you know finally someone will win and the other will loose but
this time and this week exactly I promess that we'll crush
everybody and we'll be number 1 in the Lebanese volleyball soon
enough, again I'll be in Leb Thursday to play the finals.
Nabil/Anwar a suggestion I am ready to organize a game between
the first two teams in the Lebanese league (hope it will be us
and bawshriye) lets say, with (ri3eye) from someone! under
Shweir.com familly name at Dhour shweir, for sure the money that
we'll have you can donate to any project within Shweir (maybe
the xmas tree!) or anything else shweir.com maybe will need it
let me know.

Riskalla to the old time when I was in my
early twenty's playing volleyball.
I used to go to Kahraba club and Club Sacre Coeur , have our
training at 9 p.m. after work and University.
It is ashamed not to have professional teams in Lebanon.
My best game was when we beated China In College fes Freres
Sacre Coeur.

Congrats Joseph on your Achievements. You
make us proud.
We stand ready to facilitate where ever we can. If your group
can arrange for sponsorship or (ri3eye) from someone, we can
post the event on Shweir.com and have a representative attend
the event, etc.
If that sponsor is a business, we can dedicate a web page in the
name of their company on Shweir.com and their business will be
mentioned on Shwier.com home page with a link to their web page
while we promote and announce the event.
These are some thoughts that come to mind at this time. We are
receptive to other creative suggestions to help make this
happen.
Thinking on a positive note, best approach would be for someone
in Shweir or Lebanon that is well connected with the Volley Ball
and businesses to coordinate sponsorsip(s). Trusting that this
will be a successful event, it can be held annually around mid
August, and/or can be incorporated into the Emigrants Festival.
BTW, does anyone know when the Emigrants Festival will be held
this year?

Chevalier,
Whatever happened to the Kahraba player Mohammad Badr Eddine? He
was la crème de la crème in all of Lebanon. Now, I believe, is
Alan Saadeh.
Anwar, here's a suggestion: How about a yearly match between the
oldies: An immigrant team vs an oldies local team? Am sure Nabil
would love that (if he can still jump!)

Wow, I did not there is such a website.
Mohamad Badr Al Din could be in the State. He came back shortly
to Lebanon in the 80' But He was around the 35 years old, I do
not know where is he now. I am from the same generation of
Marhoum Abdo Mouzawak, Tony Lattouf ...
I played with Mont La Salle under the leadership of Antoine
Chartier.
then trained with Kahraba but due War I had to have my own team
in Ajaltoun . We had Kesourwan championship for 2 years in a
row.
And used to be brorrowed to play with KFar AKAb when they use to
play against Al AMAl Bikfaya and other teams.
One of the stories of the volley ball , I was watching the game
of Mohamad Badriddine against China, He blew up the Ball . China
won at the end and the Chinese team gave the trophy to him.

chevalier de marie and AJ,
Guys for your knowledge, when I used to play Antoine Chartier
was a player and not a coach. In fact at a short period of time
we were playmates. The Kahraba team was established after the
government close up our Shweir Huda club. Most of us including
me were recruited be the kahraba. I refused to play with a non
Shweiri club but to my knowledge the only two from our team
joined the kahraba was the Late and great Philip Azar and the
late Naeem Labaki.
AJ,
This will give you an idea how long I have been away from the
game and you the nerve to ask me if I can jump? Are you serious?
Abou Al Zooz,
If you are serious in organizing a game in Shweir I am willing
to contribute with a nice Trophy. I need to know in advance so I
could bring it with me when I go in August |

Nice to here some old story -) I just
want to mention some informations I have: (Mohamad Badr Din is
working in UAE from a while, Tony Lattouf is a good friend of me
still in Lebanon working at Mont la salle school), someone
mentioned that Alin Saade is the best right now I want to tell
you that in our team we have 2 players better then Alin what I
am trying to say that Alin is from the best spikers (and not
players) why? in volleyball you have best player that's mean
(the player have to be a good receiver, a good defender, a good
blocker, a good server, agood spiker ... which mean all arounded
player) in the case of Alin he have none of those -) he's just a
good spiker (so big difference!!!), I think the idea is much
clear, ( the volleyball right now is too much different -),
anyway).
Bawshriye goes through the finals yesterday in defeating Al
Jeish 3-1, tonight Al Anwar will have the second game with
Zahra.
Anwar/Nabil
Anwar yes I can have this game to be a yearly event (if you want
it within the emigrants event no problem with me!) and maybe I
can organize it with some foreign teams coming from outside to
play friendly games in Leb like (Sydney Al Arz, Al Sherta ...)
Nabil sure I am serious just give me to next week when I come
back from the finals and having the approval for the game. The
date and time doesn't matter for me just let me know when you
want the game to be played?
For a game to you guys I can have some x players from shweir and
around (I don't want to say old because I think Nabil can still
beat you all
-) to play I can also do that let me know! |

Wonderful. This is one of the best and
promises to be one of the most productive brain storming
sessions we have had in a long time.
I think with so many Shweiry volley ball grads over the years,
we can have a series of competition games between some current
pros and as AJ mentioned between local and emigrants... we can
add different age categories.
And Joseph, that sounds great about bringing other teams. As
long as the games are well organized, we can build momentum to
host series of games through out the summer. Good luck Joseph on
your next game(s). We can post announcement as soon as you set
them up.
I can immagine Dhour and Shweir will be buzzing with so many
brushing up on their games and so many coming from over seas to
participate in these events.
And of course it will be covered on Shweir.com and other
international media. Stay tuned.
Any time you are ready, I will start a new "Volley Ball" web
page on Shweri.com

I think Immigrants vs local groups should
be divided as such: the 50 and older group and 30-49 group.
And like Anwar mentioned, it would also be a good idea if
active
immigrant (US, Australia, Canada, Brazil, etc...) could compete
against each other, as well as against the active local team.
